Teeth of the Divine
11/01/2023In the case of Echoes of Yore, we have some pretty big hitters from the gothic/doom realm with Mike Lamb of Sojourner writing the songs and playing all instruments, former Draconian singer Heike Langhans, and none other than Aaron Stainthorpe of My Dying Bride. The latter two provide magnificent beauty and the beast vocals over some top-notch gothic doom metal that culls heavily from both vocalist’s former and current bands.
The Prog Mind
08/23/2023Lord of Shadows will quickly become a favorite doom project of mine, I am sure. With grieving shoulders, heartfelt sorrow, flickers of hope, and graceful lore, this album is a work of profound majesty. It communicates beauty in all the ways I personally understand best, and its artistry is deeply reflective and of the highest quality. I love this album, and I think fans of the doom genre in general will, too.
Metal Purgatory
08/30/2023Overall, this is a love letter to the Gothic Doom. Lamb lays out the perfect canvas for Shadows’ lyrics, and each vocalist shines without overshadowing the other. Consider this essential listening for those with a penchant for darkness.
Ever Metal
08/09/2023Overall, I’d describe this album as a journey. Never the kind that you’ll pop on a playlist at a party. Definitely not. No, more like an album which will explore some of those deeper and darker emotions within you. Perhaps places you never wanted to go, but make you feel more alive for having experienced it.
