Smokin' Cola Has A Website, Plus New Song Updates
Dec 05, 2024 by Smokin' Cola

I’ll keep this one short.

At long last, there is an official Smokin’ Cola website, a one-stop shop for all things Cola! With links to everywhere you can find Smokin’ Cola music, videos, and merch, plus this here blog and a photo gallery, it’s got a lot, but more on the way. Take a quick look-see and maybe sign up for the newsletter to stay abreast of new comings and goings.

Stuff like this - mixing on Withdrawal Symptoms, which I plan on making my first release of 2025, as well as the first track on my first album of 2025 (I guess, technically, my first album, period), is going swimmingly well! Today I spent a couple of hours really locking in the vocals and I’m really happy with how it’s turning out. It’s a catchy, rockin’, earworm (I hope). Can’t wait for y’all to hear it.

Lastly, this Friday, December 6, 2024, is Bandcamp Friday, a day when Bandcamp drastically reduces the cut they take from artist sales. If you want to support your favorite indie artist (or even me), it’s a great day to do it. I will be running some type of special deal and I hope to have the remix of Interstellar Improv on the site, but the part I personally love best is finding and buying music from new (to me) artists. I’ll be on the socials sharing my finds, so check me out on Bluesky, Facebook, or X (in that order these days) if you want to catch some groovy new tunes.

New Music Video for Collide
Nov 30, 2024 by Smokin' Cola

Some big news and announcements to make, plus a new release!

I saved the best for last there, so let me get that out of the way first - there is a new music video for Collide, the second song on my Quadrivium EP. Collide was very directly inspired by the book Ishmael by Daniel Quinn and it is about our refusal to realize we are not apart from nature, but that everything we do is part of it. That conflict collides in our lives in a myriad of way, from the global to the most intimate relationships. But enough about me! The video is my most ambitious yet, which should be evident by the sheer amount of ME that is in it. I hope you will check it out and, of course, a like, share, and follow is always appreciated.

Watch the video for Collide.

Okay, on to the rest. I have decided that I will not release my next EP/album until after the first of the year. That lack of decision between EP and album is part of the reason, but other perfectly valid excuses exist as well. I am very nearly finished with the first song, with others nearing various stages of completion, but as much as I think perfection is the aim of the devil (or something like that), I really like these songs and want to put my best mix on them. So, we will wait. It will be worth it, I promise.

For more instant, or at least chronologically closer, gratification, I have received one remix of Interstellar Improv (hint: IT’S BY FREAKING TRUCKDOG) and have one more on the way. As soon as I receive it, I will release my first remix compilation. I don’t want to promise a date on this one, but I am very hopeful it happens before the end of the year. If you want to keep up with all of this, I suggest following me online. I’m still on X, for now (as long as good people remain, I will do my best to do the same), but I am much more active, and happier, on Bluesky right now, so you might consider following there, too. As always, just search for @smokincola and I’ll be there.

I hope everyone has had a chance to relax and be with family and friends, or at least the people who make you happy and whole. Take care of yourself, be well, and fill your life with music. Preferably grimy indie music.
