This album embodies the darkness and spookiness of the holiday but, much like Halloween, it also doesn’t take itself seriously enough to become pretentious, with lyrics that are well-written without becoming insufferably overwrought. In fact, the whole EP feels effortlessly elevated and never forced. Storm Boy aren’t trying hard to be clever and exciting; they just naturally are that way.
