The song ‘Live Totality’ is the result of Axioma performing during the full solar eclipse 04.08.2024 on the shores of Lake Erie In Lorain, Ohio. The composition was written specifically for the performance and was recorded during said eclipse.

AN NCS EP PREMIERE (AND A REVIEW): AXIOMA — “LIVE TOTALITY”

From those dissonant and emotionally fracturing sounds, it’s easy to imagine a nightmare of the sun blotted out forever, perpetually frozen in place behind the moon. But the sky brightens again; the musical catastrophe slowly spends itself; rough tones pulsate, and then vanish; the music becomes slow, gentle, and grieving again.

Those familiar with Cleveland’s Axioma probably know them best for their post-black metal work, which they’ve been creating since 2016’s Opia. They decided to change things up for their latest release, Live Totality, which contains a massive live recording (more info below) and three new studio recordings.

Destroy Exist

Blending melodic intensity with brooding heaviness, Axioma achieve something truly majestic with their new offering; a powerful and evocative sound which feels like a fitting companion to a celestial event.

Scream Blast Repeat

You can hear an additional resonance in the slow-picked chords at the beginning of the title-track (and main event). Your imagination might even strain an ear to phantom birds squawking and traces of a midnight breeze caressing through the mix.

Axioma Commemorates A Once In A Lifetime Moment On New EP, Live Totality

What Axioma came up with is outstanding, making their music perfectly fit the buildup and then eventual decline of this solar event. One can feel the phases of the eclipse within the overall feel of this track, and the music, if you let it, has the power to transport you into another place.
