About COMPACTOR
COMPACTOR creates largely atonal and often rhythmic audio that functions as a soundtrack to the daily grind. The Worker never speaks, is always masked, and in a generic uniform, all to emphasize dehumanization. Each Audio Document (and related series of Live Shifts) has a different subject and sonic focus, often some aspect of work, technology, and/or society.
Documents have been licensed to Phage Tapes, Ohm Resistance, Love Earth Music, Oxidation, Annihilvs Power Electronix, Low Noise Productions, and several others since 2011. Annual arts event Figment NYC hosted the sonic interactive installations Fields Of Waste and Components. Over 200 Live Shifts have taken place in 30 states and three countries, including festivals such as Fargo Noise Fest, Tulsa Noise Fest, and The UnConvention. Live Shifts are already planned for 2025, including Southwest and Northeast US tours.
