During his bass studies in Rotterdam between 2002-08, the bassist lived in a run down student apartment building and suddenly had the urge to record his own version of Charles Mingus bass/vocal song “Freedom”. He became a homerecording singer/songwriter for the first time in his life. Freedom indeed. This project is a return to the feeling of that very day. The project name comes from the jazz standard “The Devil & The Deep Blue Sea”.
