Spring Show Recap Pt. 2 - Maryland Deathfest 2026
2026 was the year of the deathfest downpour. For the second year in a row, I packed nothing but hot girl outfits only to be met with pouring rain and me shivering in a bikini top. LAME.

Tell me you’re at MDF without telling me you’re at MDF.
Wednesday night kicked off inside Nevermore Hall. I love that Venue, the balcony is vibes, and the lounge in the back is a lifesaver because sometimes unc has to sneak away for a 31 year old nap.

Organ Dealer
Organ Dealer opened the preshow, which was a real treat for me because they're East Coast grind royalty. The blasts were insane, the vocals incredible, and i'm pretty sure their vocalist hit his daily step goal before the set was even over. Monstrosity was strong as hell and a perfect fit for the lineup. I'd never seen them before, so I was excited to catch them and see them on the bill. Primitive Man is always good, I catch them a lot in Philly and they consistently sound good.

Napalm Death
Replusion and Napalm Death were amazing. Honestly I don't even need to write a review because you know they crushed it. My ass stayed planted on the balcony for both their sets because the pit was absolute chaos. And even from a distance you could feel the kick drum rattling your neck meat. I was like "fuck thats loud".

Philly Gang

Jesi Eternal & Payson (Aftermath/Gestation)
The next four days were spent with my best friends from home and from all over the world.
Some of my stand out sets of the weekend were Gestation and Aftermath at Soundstage. They toured up together and absolutely ripped. Gestation opened Soundstage on Thursday to an insane crowd, that's how I knew the weekend was about to get real af.
Lividity literally melted my brain on friday, and Bone Weapon ripped Angels Rock Bar.
Saturday was stacked, Mellow Harsher was everything I wanted them to be, funny as fuck, heavy as hell and i immediatly raided their merch table afterwards. Grindcore fanny pack goes SO hard. Another band I was excited to see was Melting Rot. Their record had been getting a lot of hype and every bit deserved. Noisy, chaotic, snare driven, sickness.
Unfortunatly I missed Rotten Sound, by late saturday night i thought i was going to die from whatever plague I was developing, talk about gestation, I was gestating some fucking bronchial bullshit of some sort.
I ended up watching Pig Destroyer from the parking lot, because I stood in the rain any longer you wouldn't be reading this. You'd be reading my little funeral card that said "Jesi Eternal - She Wentith too hard RIP".
Sunday morning I woke up completely destroyed, but my determination is strong, and my need for self preservation is low, so you know I cracked a couple Celsius and got ready for the last day. Blasts killed my brain cells and I'm not a quitter. Sunday was also the only time it was remotely warm, So I attempted to wear a cute top and take hot girl pics with my friends. I compromised with the virus and wore sweatpants. On this final day Woe ripped up Rams Head so hard, Chris sounded more unholy than ever. They always sound incredible but the sound in the room really highlighted just how amazing they are. Batushka closed things out. Their set was spiritual, and everything I hoped it would be. I have never seen so many fucking people posting about a metal bands feet before but at least none of you wre posting about mine.
I did not go to Taco Town this year, if you did you are braver than I am. I went to Popeyes way too many times. That biscuit remains offensively dry.
Monday afternoon I finally made it home and proceeded to sleep for what felt like four days straight.

Philly gang (the aftermath).
Now I sit on my second flight of the day, and I ask myself "was it worth it?".
Absolutely.
A girl loves to party.
