The Oracle features dark, catchy electronica combined with organic instruments: crystalline mandolin and distorted acoustic guitar in unorthodox tunings.
“The Oracle” considers the dual aspects of oracular power as they coil through time. An oracle can reinforce political power structures, or it can summon mystical knowledge outside of the reach of rationality. In some cases, oracles do not tell the future so much as seed it with narratives that emerge as forgone conclusions once the time is right. With correctly targeted prophecy, the potential for political control is great. In opposition to this another type of oracle, one that represents mystical access to realms that circumvent rationality and linear time, speaking to supernatural forces outside transient power structures. The song weighs both aspects within the bewildering edifice of time.
