In the far reaches of the Northlands, where Firun, the God of Cold and Winter, rules with grim determination, the magnificent peaks of the Finsterkamm mountain range rise like a weathered skeleton against the Aventurian heavens. Today, a foreboding weight hangs in the air, tinged with a sulfurous scent that dulls the senses and weighs heavily upon the heart.

Suddenly, flames burst forth, each beacon igniting the next in succession. They traverse from watchtower to watchtower, forming a chain of fire and smoke that eventually stretches along the entire Finsterkamm. And then the dread appears – a silhouette so vast and terrifying that it casts a pall over the sky. It is Naugadir, the ancient dragon, the bane of the Northlands, unfurling his wings and unleashing a terrifying roar. Whose village will he lay waste to today, which swath of land will he set ablaze?

To challenge this ancient terror, a brave band of adventurers seeks two prized relics: the legendary »Klinge des Schicksals« (Blade of Destiny) and a shield forged from the mystical Endurium, also called Black Steel, hidden in the unfathomable depths of the dwarven mines of the Finsterkamm mountains. In this time of direst need, the mage Isenbart von Greifenfurt turns to the Dwarf King of the Finsterkamm, who dwells with his kin deep within the earth's embrace. There, amidst the Stygian depths, they seek the scarce magical metal, which may hold the key to Naugadir's downfall. The dwarves, as steadfast and unyielding as the stone upon which they dwell, accept the challenge. They welcome our group of adventurers, brave souls willing to risk life and limb in the battle against Naugadir. Together, they descend into the deepest recesses of the Zwergenbinge, a legendary dwarven mine where Endurium is forged. Before embarking on their quest to face the dragon, the Dwarf King presents them with a shield of pure Endurium and a shining talisman, emblems of hope and fortitude. Armed with these artifacts, the heroes set out to meet their destiny…
