Klinge des Schicksals [EP]

North of the Salamandersteine (Salamander Stones), deep in the Silberbuchenwald (Silverbeech Forest), on the banks of the river Lorsol stands the lonely tower of the wise wizard Isenbart von Greifenfurt. In the chambers of his tower, where the air is dusty with old parchments and strange devices, Isenbart lives in seclusion, surrounded by books and scrolls in constant study and deep contemplation. He only keeps regular contact with the mysterious elves of the forest.

One starless night, as the full moon sat pale above the tower, casting its silvery light through the frosted windows, Isenbart was haunted by a strange dream: In it, he found himself in a vast, mist-shrouded plain, filled with an eerie silence that spread across the land like a shadow. With a heavy heart, Isenbart strode forward across the dark plain, though the leaden silence almost pressed him to the ground. On the horizon, the wizard spotted a strange object that looked like a large boulder from a distance. The closer he got to the stone, the more details Isenbart could make out: the boulder was completely entwined with ivy, but in its center shimmered a strange metallic glow…

Suddenly, a glistening light pierced the darkness. A dazzling figure manifested before him, its outline so radiant that it could only be guessed at. It appeared to Isenbart as a lioness of majestic grace, her fur of golden fire and the eyes glowing with the immeasurable power. The figure was surrounded by an aura of strength and determination, and the sight of her filled Isenbart's heart with awe. She spoke with a voice that rolled like distant thunder, which was more than a sound, but rather an echo of past battles and future victories: »Isenbart von Greifenfurt, keeper of ancient wisdom, hear my words,« the lioness spoke. »I am the promise of destiny, the reverence of battle and the flame of valor. The Northland will soon be threatened once again by an ancient danger! The terrible dragon Naugadir, whose wrath is unforgiving, will set the land ablaze and plunge its inhabitants into deepest fear and despair. His shadow will cast a curse over the land, bringing fire and death to every living creature. But amidst the darkness, there is hope: Grimring, the Blade of Destiny, a sword of immeasurable power, will once again redeem the Northland. It defeated evil once before, at the time of the Orc Storm, and it will do so again. But make no mistake, Isenbart, Naugadir also knows the promises of fate: He too knows of Grimring's power and seeks the Blade of Destiny, and he is ahead of us – Grimring will be in possession of the dragon. You must therefore find the bravest heroes who can steal the sword from him and and use it to slay the dragon.«

As the last words faded into thunder, the lioness' form slowly dissolved, leaving Isenbart with the image of Grimring, the legendary blade, in all its majestic glory. Isenbart found himself alone in the silence of his tower deep within the Silverbeech Forest, his heart filled with the task the lioness had set for him. But the path before him was still uncertain and full of mystery…
