A long awaited split between myself and New Angel that has finally seen the light of day after much care and attention.
For the first half, New Angel brings their characteristically haunting lo-fi rituals that continuously blur the line between fuzzed-out synth music and raw black metal intensity. Breathing fresh sonic life into a tantalizingly esoteric 'earth wizardy' framework, New Angel's tracks offer a mystifying proof of concept for finding warmth in a cosmic aural expanse that few dare to venture.
For the latter half, I sought a form of catharsis in the troubled relationship of existing as a neurodivergent queer person who needs institutionalized care from a deeply cold and uncaring system, stemming from an extended rehabilitative inpatient stay I navigated at the beginning of 2021. Although ultimately a fruitful experience, the frigid & callous regard that my needs as a transwoman were met with was abundantly eye-opening. As a result, I began conceptualizing what would eventually become these 2 tracks during my stay there and when New Angel broached the topic of a split, it was the perfect opportunity to finally execute these ideas. Pulling heavily from the likes of ambient black metal greats such as Paysage d'Hiver, Neige et Noirceur, Trist and Arkhtinn, this is by far the most wintry black metal material I've written to date.
