I woke up at 3 again I might still be asleep, I'm not sure All of my adult life is a blur Pour me yet another coffee I'll see if's the morning or early afternoon I do it all for you I swear it's for you It's gonna pay off in the long run Because it's for you It's been a little hard to feel Gimme just a little more pressure on the brain Staring down the tunnel with a little light at the end But the end is back zero It's no way for anyone to live But I know I'm quite privileged compared to you I swear it's for you It's gonna pay off in the long run Because it's for you Over and over turn over burn out Get all your cash from a corporate snout Over and over turn over burn out Get all your cash from a corporate snout Get all your cash from a corporate snout

"It's for you" was a prototype of the song that became "sleepwalking again." I love simple chords in Drop D guitar tuning, which is where the basis of this song came from. I was feeling really tired, jaded and struggling with being back at work after parental leave, constantly feeling like I was letting my family down, and the lyrics came out of that fairly quickly.

This almost made the album - but listening to the lyrics over and over made me realize how much of a passive-aggressive bummer this was, and so I rewrote the song with more earnest lyrics.

Lyrics from this version also ended up in "lashing out!!!!!!"
