About Philamelian
Philamelian is the artist name of Çağrı Tozluoğlu, a London-based composer, producer, synthesist, and pianist whose music exists at the intersection of neoclassical, orchestral-hybrid, and electronic music. His work is shaped by collaboration, improvisation, and interdisciplinary dialogue, exploring the spaces where sound meets other creative practices. He values slow processes, shared craftsmanship, and letting the creative journey guide the musical outcome. Working from his studio, TimbreWorks, at Trinity Buoy Wharf in East London, Philamelian focused his work on music for media and shared creative explorations. TimbreWorks also runs a small but growing label, releasing mostly collaborative work emerging from the studio. Recent releases include the EP Sediments, created with electronic music artist Elif Yalvaç, in which piano and live electronics converse over recordings of their improvisational sessions. The track “Drēamcræft” was featured on BBC Radio 3, alongside composers such as Arvo Pärt and Brahms. Other notable releases include the singles Exile and The Oracle, featuring Istanbul-based multi-talented artist Özge Ürer. In addition to his artistic output as Philamelian, Tozluoğlu composes for TV, short films, advertising, and video games, with music published by global labels including BMG. His 2021 work for the sci-fi animation short Adarnia, created by a Tokyo-based team, remains a personal highlight.
