At 18 minutes and change, you have the work of a very impressive debut EP from Svn.Seeker that could vault the band into the hearts of every melodic death metal fan. Focused, skilled songwriting and outstanding performances that get the job done, and hopefully will be the start of a long and fruitful career for these gentlemen.
These Connecticuters write interesting riffs and melodies, know their instruments and they seem to have the potential to one day stand right next to ARSIS or OMNIUM GATHERUM. Recommended for seekers of the "where melodeath goes next" path.
Fans of early Children Of Bodom should check this out, whereas for fans of Skeletonwitch and/or The Black Dahlia Murder, Means To An End is an absolutely obligatory addition to their collection
You get sinister, angry, apathetic, and forlorn all in the same disc, sometimes in the same song. They craft complex pieces that are not standard fare. They challenge you to listen and interpret, making you figure out how you feel about the subject matter. I love when that happens. This is exciting music; never a dull moment.
This debut EP is a quick and easy pummelling with plenty of show-off melodies that sound very inspired by the good melodic black and death from the early 00s
SVN.SEEKER are an impressive and noteworthy new arrival to the metal scene, making music that combines the aggression of thrash metal with the atmosphere of black metal and adding a few other ingredients to keep it all fresh.
Svn.Seeker have a keen understanding of the fine line between restraint and bombast when it comes to melodeath dynamics, resulting in a song that carries itself with a certain flair while simultaneously feeling quite grounded. It's a notably Soilwork-esque quality, and worthy of high praise in my book.
It's an EP that leaves you wanting more and definitively proves that Svn.Seeker are a one of a kind force in their scene
