Means to an End

What has befallen me? Limbs contorted, glass surrounds me, The wails and the screams, A grisly visage What is that burning? Acrid smoke, rising higher, Charring lifeless flesh. Medics scurrying, Giving aid to anyone That can be saved. Body bag loaded, My own face locked within it, My life ends today. This light has been pilfered, The thief clad in steel, Plucked in plain sight, For all to see his heist. What is happening? Mother save me, I am frightened, What did I do? To make him angry. Slurred muttering, What’s he saying? I cannot hear him Just leave me be. Mother please come home, He’s getting closer, ever closer, no! Blow after blow, I don’t know how much longer, I can hold on… This light has been pilfered, The thief drenched in rye. A light so tender, so bright, Tossed to the flies.

The Dawn Has come with a gift, a chance to be renewed For that is my only hope I stay dreaming in the void as the world basks in the morning light But I must arise, and venture on, to seek my own Sun, To end this torturous Dream That plagues my Mind That holds me Down This warmth, could it be the morning has finally come? I hope, to see that light and feel it’s embrace. Whispers stave away the dawn, deprive me of peace. And yet I’m helpless to resist the pull of the Dream, Hypnotic captor of sanity Keeping me from my Sun I wish To awaken But these voices Hold me back Again, the sun eludes my gaze My lament grows, with each passing day The slumber, binds me to this place From which I cannot escape One day I will arise But until then I am trapped Dreaming indefinitely.

Cursed wife, Locking me away, My pain, her nuisance. Why can’t they see? The truth in front of them: I’m dying. The cruelty of man Lacking in compassion The cruelty of man Plastic smiles and lies. Oh, tell me why I’m to lay and suffer I mold my life After theirs. Oh God tell me why Am I fated to die? What sin did I commit? To deserve this punishment. Where is your justice? Where is your kindness? The cruelty of God Divine contradiction The cruelty of God Punishment without sin. He could not be cruel No, it could only mean, The absence of God The absence of God I can’t believe, I can’t believe The absence of God Truth finally revealed. It’s getting colder The darkness encroaches.

Life Brings End As they run in this vain attempt to escape This prison of flesh and decay Afraid of their own Futility Some run, some chase For ages always the same Difference only within The means. They’re all just means to an end No justification needed All roads end the exact same way To begin again Fear Takes hold in the twilight All you hold dear Crumbles Weight unfelt Until the earth quakes The smallest line, Erased… Oh the triviality of time Magnified As the flesh pales Before the fall As the chapter reaches its end Closing this book Forever In the archives of existence Few tales are retold They’re all just means to an end Don’t fret, enjoy life instead One’s death won’t define their past For it all returns to dust.
