A New Way To Life

Ambient is often what people reach for at the end of a long day — something to unwind to, to bring the pulse down. A New Way To Life meets that need without ever quite settling into stillness, carrying the warmth of a long summer evening rather than a darkened room — light still in the sky, still some motion in the air, even as the day winds down. Of the eight pieces, seven are purely instrumental; "Relocate My Heart" carries the album's only vocal, used sparingly rather than placed at its center. The record is a personal one, circling around the idea of starting over — falling and finding one's footing again, taking stock of a life mid-course and asking what comes next. Rather than stating this directly, the album works the way the duo works best: obliquely, through slowly unfolding arrangements that leave room for the listener to settle in. A New Way To Life follows the duo's 12″ maxi-single "I Thought This Was Going To Be My Year".
