Winterfylleth
Four years since the release of their critically acclaimed 7th album, The Reckoning Dawn, British black metal forerunners Winterfylleth return to the fray with their passionate & anthemic new album, The Imperious Horizon on 13th September via Candlelight / Spinefarm.
A lot has changed in the world since Winterfylleth released The Reckoning Dawn. The band has had a line-up change, the social landscape has become palpably different, and all the while the world has gone through a series of unprecedented circumstances - leaving it feeling like a more fractured and dangerous place than ever before.
The Imperious Horizon is the first album to feature guitarist and backing vocalist Russell Dobson as a writing member (who joined the group in 2020 and who remains active in the black metal band Necronautical), following the departure of Dan Capp shortly after The Reckoning Dawn.
Also present on the album is a stunning guest-vocal performance from Primordial’s AA Nemtheanga, on the track ‘In Silent Grace’. Alan has been close to the band for a long time, and his various projects (Primordial/Dread Sovereign) have shared the stage with Winterfylleth on numerous occasions across the years. Having talked many times about collaborating with Alan, the opportunity presented itself on this album, when it became apparent that the feeling and tone of ‘In Silent Grace’ would lend itself perfectly to working with Alan. The outcome is a stirring and expansive track that encompasses the prowess of Alan’s unique vocal performances alongside Winterfylleth’s emotive songwriting style.
