A Call To Arms
Carmine Rebellion
Devastating war machines All around the town Here to tear the place apart Burn it to the ground Stop the blitzkrieg Man the walls Hold the attack at bay Face the onslaught and be brave Turn the tide away They come to destroy: these giant droids They bring death to our door We… we must defend fight to the end Fight to protect our homes They come like a storm to do us harm Like bitter wind they roar We must stand and fight against their might Against these endless drones Endless drones These endless drones Against these endless drones Call to arms… Call to arms… Call to arms… This is a call to arms They come to devour to show their power To break our righteous cause We… we will stand guard we will fight hard We know our cause is just They would subjugate spread fear and hate They won't stop; they won't pause We… must take our gear sell our lives dear Until we are turned to dust Turned to dust Turned to dust Turned to dust Call to arms… Call to arms… Call to arms… This is a call to arms Face the threat of the vicious contraptions Stop their attack Stand firm at the fortifications And don't fall back Call to arms… Call to arms… Call to arms… This is a call to arms

Artifice is Carmine Rebellion's first full-length album. It is a dystopian science fiction concept album, telling a story about how AI, automation, and capitalism will combine to destroy society. It wasn’t supposed to come true quite as quickly as it has.
Conceived several years earlier, I actually abandoned work on the original version of Artifice when I started work on the first Carmine Rebellion EP, Manifesto. Having cleaned my palette somewhat with seven EP, I found myself better able to work out the kinks, replace the material that was just never going to work, and turn it into something I actually like.
It was originally serialised, with one track released every two weeks over a period of about 12 months. I was still working on the album during this time, having released the first track with about five or six more finished. Afterwards, I gave the whole thing a bit more of a polish to get it ready for this complete album release.
