Weight Of Numbers
Carmine Rebellion
They've got the machines They've got the big guns But we've got them outnumbered A hundred to one We are rising up We will face them down The tide is turning And soon they will drown They thought their weapons made them strong Now we will prove them wrong They thought the conflict could only go one way They thought they would easily win the day But as our forces and the enemy collide The weight of numbers is on our side They've got the big machines They've got the big guns But it still seems Their judgement day comes We're taking them down They're out for the count Now fate is with us And we're gaining ground They thought their high walls were secure I wouldn't be so sure They thought the conflict could only go one way They thought they would easily win the day But as our forces and the enemy collide The weight of numbers is on our side They thought it would be easy They thought we had no chance But our greater numbers Are driving our advance They thought the conflict could only go one way They thought they would easily win the day But as our forces and the enemy collide The weight of numbers is on our side

Artifice is Carmine Rebellion's first full-length album. It is a dystopian science fiction concept album, telling a story about how AI, automation, and capitalism will combine to destroy society. It wasn’t supposed to come true quite as quickly as it has.
Conceived several years earlier, I actually abandoned work on the original version of Artifice when I started work on the first Carmine Rebellion EP, Manifesto. Having cleaned my palette somewhat with seven EP, I found myself better able to work out the kinks, replace the material that was just never going to work, and turn it into something I actually like.
It was originally serialised, with one track released every two weeks over a period of about 12 months. I was still working on the album during this time, having released the first track with about five or six more finished. Afterwards, I gave the whole thing a bit more of a polish to get it ready for this complete album release.
