Devastation
Carmine Rebellion
Blood red sky as a new day dawns The war is won but the fight goes on The enemy is overwhelmed It's much too late for them to repent They're on their knees but our rage isn't spent We have passed judgement and condemned The decades of pain are at an end The hammer of justice will descend The concussions shaking the ground I'm on as the bombs begin to fall Detonations breaking apart the strongest walls The explosions lighting up the night sky as the town begins to burn We enjoy the devastation of it all The blood red mist is in all our eyes We take revenge on those whom we despise The slaughter is out of control And anybody who still survives We'll put to work the rest of their lives Punishment without parole Decades of pain to come for you All of your nightmares will come true The concussions shaking the ground I'm on as the bombs begin to fall Detonations breaking apart the strongest walls The explosions lighting up the night sky as the town begins to burn We enjoy the devastation of it all They were an infection Decades long affliction Cauterise and cleanse the wound This is medication Full eradication Burn 'til all contagion's consumed 'Til all they built is ruined Decades of pain are at an end All of the years will be avenged The concussions shaking the ground I'm on as the bombs begin to fall Detonations breaking apart the strongest walls The explosions lighting up the night sky as the town begins to burn We enjoy the devastation of it all

Artifice is Carmine Rebellion's first full-length album. It is a dystopian science fiction concept album, telling a story about how AI, automation, and capitalism will combine to destroy society. It wasn’t supposed to come true quite as quickly as it has.
Conceived several years earlier, I actually abandoned work on the original version of Artifice when I started work on the first Carmine Rebellion EP, Manifesto. Having cleaned my palette somewhat with seven EP, I found myself better able to work out the kinks, replace the material that was just never going to work, and turn it into something I actually like.
It was originally serialised, with one track released every two weeks over a period of about 12 months. I was still working on the album during this time, having released the first track with about five or six more finished. Afterwards, I gave the whole thing a bit more of a polish to get it ready for this complete album release.
