Here on my island, I find myself alone Cut off from the world and cast away All around the sea is closing in To wash away the life of yesterday On the horizon, where I can never go I see a ship go sailing by And all I can do is stare But I know that someone is out there And so we wait; ever still; so we all stand by Life on hold; solitude; a world pacified Paralysed; a dormant state; everything on ice Wasting time, waiting to resume this frozen life Here on my island, every day's the same I am drawn back to the shore How I long to cross the water To venture out there and explore And so we wait; ever still; so we all stand by Life on hold; in suspense; a world pacified Paralysed; a dormant state; everything on ice Wasting time, waiting to resume this frozen life A candle in a jar: a flame that can't be free A captive fire, burning hopefully Ever reaching out, never losing heart Always casting its light out into the dark And so we wait; ever still; so we all stand by Life on hold; in suspense; a world pacified Paralysed; a dormant state; everything on ice Wasting time, waiting to resume this frozen life

Carmine Rebellion’s debut EP was a covid lockdown project. As the name suggests, it was a statement of intent.
