H59 is a project that was created in collaboration with the cameraman and artist Antonius Kurz. He painted the abstract pictures, and I composed short tracks for each painting. It was a challenge to produce such short pieces, as my music is usually quite a bit longer.
About the title H59: the H stands for the French word huit, 8 ...my eighth album whose title begins with H. The album is based on 59 abstract images by the artist Antonius Kurz.
H59 also refers to a material (brass) that consists mainly of the two metals copper and zinc, symbolizing the connection between painting and music.
