Dr. Mocker

Dan Murphy is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter based in Brooklyn who has played with various indie rock acts in the New York and Philadelphia areas since 2009. In 2020, he began releasing solo dark ambient synth work under the moniker Droning Muffler.

2023 saw the release of the Spark Chamber EP under the name Dr. Mocker. This project marked a new direction towards psych rock and krautrock, combining uptempo drum beats and more foregrounded angular guitar work with both sequenced and droning synth sounds. Constant Current Stimulus is both a continuation of this sound and a deeper exploration into space rock, post-hardcore, hard-edged motorik prog, and paranoid psychedelia.

Dr. Mocker brings an electrifyingly fresh urgency to space rock on Constant Current Stimulus by blending the kosmische with the chaotic, creating something vital and unique.
