The album Signal Abnormality is a prayer to three treatments from old medicine in New Mexico: Yarrow and Old Man’s Beard soothe sore and blistered feet, Terror of the Earth aids kidney ailments, and Oshá is a revered plant that heals respiratory infections.
Old remedies treat what medicine can’t recognize. Their language is tea and tincture. Signal abnormality is what causes the burning pain in Form of an Owl’s brain – what causes the memory decay and language slippage, the stuttering amid drawn-out tones from invisible instruments.
