Greet
One hour to go And my fate will be known The ganger will tell me If it’s site or it’s dole I don’t want to spend All my life digging holes But the need for money Has taken a hold I work for need Not needing for work Still under the shadow Of satanic mills I want to go Where witches dance And quivers of green, Thrust to the sky I want to be home Warm by the fire Idle the days With love and laughter If this is my last ride Down into that valley I’ll tend to the garden Reap what I sew I work for need Not needing for work Still under the shadow Of satanic mills I want to go Where witches dance And quivers of green, Thrust to the sky Lover oh! love You stand with me still With or without A pretty dowry

“Greet” is the new dark folk solo project from Matthew Broadley, the former drummer of Black Metal band Dawn Ray’d. Harmonium driven drones and textures combined with wonky melodies. 4 Odes to winter, nature, the drudgery of work and beer. A labour of love and fear, of hope and anxiety, of joy and hate. If you imagine Neil Young crossed with The Wicker Man then you’ll be some of the way there
