This is the story of the Death Of Baldr the son of Óðin and the most gentle and most loved of the gods. He began seeing frightening nightmares boding peril to his life and The Æsir took them seriously so they listed all the things that might cause harm to him. Loki - the Trickster - was envious to Baldr so he took the shape of an old woman and travelled to Fensalir to learn from Frigg that she had missed just one thing: the little harmless mistletoe bush. Loki then found a mistletoe bush and turned a branch of it into a sharpened dart. The Death Of Baldr. He returned to the company of the gods, and found them throwing darts against Baldr in sport. To one side was Höðr, Baldr's blind brother. Loki asked him why he wasn't joining in the sport. He said he had no dart, nor could he see to shoot it. Thus gave Loki the mistletoe dart to Höðr, and guided his hand to throw the dart at Baldr. The dart flew through the hall and struck Baldr. It pierced him and passed right through Baldr. Down to his face fell Baldr. Dead was Baldr. The grief of the Æsir was bottomless; their silence was deafening. They knew who was responsible for the death of Baldr.
