The Elders Below

Penetrating rays From the sun do shine Blinding eyes of man Consumed by elder hands Roots hold their feet As the tendrils strangle Drawing them below Down to the home of the ancients Great unmakers Giving death to life Undoing their own creations Vengeful and foreboding From their will they become And shall soon be undone Wisped away, underneath Merging flesh and soil Great unmakers Making life from death Great unmakers In the ground beneath Architects of old Harbingers of decay Feasting eternally Upon their meat and bone The roots take hold As rotting hands caress Delivered from being By forgotten gods of death From which they came They will now be returned From the land on which they tread To the province of the dead Their souls chained down And hope they do forgo For all their eternity owed To the Elders Below
