The Trees, They Grow So Slow LIMITED EDITION 12"
Leipzig, April 15th, 2024
THE TREES, THEY GROW SO SLOW grew out of dozens of quiet encounters with trees during 2020 and 2021. Strange times, weren’t they? But all that isolation did one thing: it slowed me down. I took long walks with our newborn, often under trees — watching sunlight flicker through leaves, listening to their whispers. They grow so slowly, yet with such strength. Durable, calm, intimidating — and still so vulnerable to us.
In late summer 2021, I stumbled upon a 300-year-old oak while traveling. Mesmerized by the rustling of its leaves in the wind, I spent hours recording it. That same day, I began a piece I later named after this feeling: THE TREES, THEY GROW SO SLOW.
This work is a quiet reminder: every being on Earth — trees and you alike — descends from a single cell in the ocean, 2.5 billion years ago.
Let that sink in as you listen.
