Misaligned teeth in flatbed press gearboxes Poorly burnished plate tearing through parchment Copper burrs embed in wool blanket skies as the heavens roll us through etched lives Yet an image is pulled Its substrate, while damaged, still functions And still a message is told Its meaning, while mangled, is purposed The ink that is left behind delivers us a new and damaged world As the sentences just carry on for each soul to inherit as a debt Falling water escaping as paint brush stroke Passes fleeting through memory and hand Sky hung floods suspended over mountaintops Drawing storms in heavens above From night, a vision bestowed Its genesis, mental, uncovered And still a message is held Its meaning, illusive, now recorded in the pigments left behind A passage into past internal worlds The sentences would act as nets for dreams caught half-millennium in fiber Symbols on paper form concepts of life engraved into being Illusory process, immovable masses chiseled in time and thought Columns of water cut into the earth tearing through land Mountains eroded through dreams metaphor telling uncertainties Atrophied functions of contact employed a cognitive dewclaw Disparate pieces of mind interact through chambers unused Languages gesture toward physical worlds constructing ontologies Living from imprinted ancient light A universe sparkborn New understanding of consciousness through Gutenberg’s apocalypse Waves felt from actions of lives never known Durer's dreams of deluge Columns of water cut into the earth Symbols on paper inform life Languages gesture to physical Abstract becomes an immovable mass

The Natural World is a story woven through drawings on paper, a solar eclipse, the printing press, dreams of a dead artist, the birth of a litter of cats, a religious man's crops dying, empty night skies and the lives held beneath them.
