Has the funnel weaver moved from the mouth of its den? The air stays cool in the mornings, the sun stays low but rises. After observing the rhythms of life around us, Is there any reason to fear change? Impermanence lending substrate to meaning A celebration of holding on, then letting go Filling and emptying Lungs and stomachs Waking from slumber To be met with the night again Born to this world Then enshrouded by womb once more Waking from slumber Met with the night all at once After observing the rhythms and passage of shadows, Is there any reason to fear change? Has the cat bared its young? have they opened their eyes? The grass is dried from spring and drought It catches in fur and moves inside Patterns which seem arbitrary Yet arise from necessity They want to see their mother They hear her movements in the brush First moments of life among rose thorns She feeds them til they can see and hunt And teaches them with a crippled locust While the spider still sits in its home by the window Impermanent

The Natural World is a story woven through drawings on paper, a solar eclipse, the printing press, dreams of a dead artist, the birth of a litter of cats, a religious man's crops dying, empty night skies and the lives held beneath them.
