Rough Pass
Denial of my deteriorating state Reminiscence of a time when I didn’t hate this body Dreaming brings discomfort, so I quiet the urge to sleep Pumping myself full of what I don’t need Is there an end to the plight That doesn’t involve any sacrifice Don’t know if I have any left in me When I’m at the end of the weak and fragile tether with this world I have left How vicious the cycle presented to me I’m imprisoned and beguiled simultaneously I find the most comfort in pushing past midnight Endlessly creating, endlessly avoiding the light There’s no time to try to get better Endlessly avoiding the act of observing - deny There’s no time to try to get better Liable to push this all off Until the end of this song The eye of the night It calls me to my cell Do whatever it takes To not evaporate into sleep How long will my will hold I feel it gripping my neck I’m slipping into The Shrouded Mirror The world melts away And is replaced Look in the face Of my own deepest trauma Here once again Not by mistake I’m destined to die here

I haven't had much time to write and record music lately, but I got a few days to myself to work on things recently. This song came out of that brief window. I had plans for an entire new Rough Pass album, but I settled for getting this song finished, at the very least, for now...
