Shrine of the Black Sword
Saidan
I would give up my life suffer and die just hold you one more time Her face pale in the light with somber goodbyes She now goes swiftly into the night No I will not cry I must stay strong I must fight And though my heart breaks inside you wouldn’t know You wouldn’t try No I can not die and will live on in your mind. Now into the shrine of the Black sword I rise Empires will fall Cause pain crushes all no matter how strong. Love will be lost for your own cause that is the cost You’ve taken from me my only release I fall to my knees Can’t you see? She is the one who’s killing me I grip this blade ignoring the pain she will not break me now I am changed Like ripping away Like turning a page i now move on from the past and the hate I’m enough No I will not cry I must stay strong I must fight And though my heart breaks inside you wouldn’t know You wouldn’t try No I can not die I will live on in your mind Now into the shrine of the Black sword I rise Pain turns to hate turns to pain turns to hate turns to I would give up my life suffer and die just to see you here before my eyes My blade shines in the light with somber goodbyes I now go swiftly into the night.

A title inspired by the poem “Tomino’s Hell“ by the Japanese children’s poet Saijou Yaso in 1919. Some believe the poem to be a curse if read out loud. Others believe the poem to be a metaphor for the horrors of war. Jigoku strives to invoke all of those feelings and beliefs from the opening scream to the last note.
