A Realm of Suffering
Withered
A realm of suffering approaches without will or intent. Its icy and directionless boundaries expand to penetrate the tips of my outstretched toes & fingers to slowly begin its blind consumption of the ability to embrace myself with love or trust. It continually creeps with a lingering solitude and a brilliant resolve. A simple state of disregard redirects my focus to challenge my instinct for self preservation. The serene beauty of abandon dulls the sting of mental clarity. It halos my perspective and exemplifies all of the shortcomings that coerce me back amongst the comfort of fear and naivety.

Atlanta's WITHERED return with 'Grief Relic', their first new album in almost six years. An imposing slab of discordant death, 'Grief Relic' sees founder Mike Thompson (guitars/vocals) and long-time drummer Beau Brandon add the talents of bassist Colin Marston (GORGUTS) and guitarist/vocalist Ethan McCarthy (PRIMITIVE MAN). With this, the quartet take a distinct step forward in the evolution of the veteran band. The hulking, eight song album is meticulously crafted and strikes a balance between vivid dynamics and oppressive weight. 'Grief Relic' is a masterful stroke of uniquely American blackened death and WITHERED's finest moment yet.
