Like so many Italian artists, MISCREANCE are well-versed in the classics. Upon making their official debut with Season of Mist in 2022, the band were likened to Death, Atheist, Pestilence and other greats throughout the alternate timeline that is the history of death metal. The often sleeveless, high-top totting foursome still preserve the genre’s old-school spirit, but their follow-up isn’t just another blast from the past.

‘Reminiscence’ isn’t one band’s attempt to recall death metal’s glory days. Instead, through a collective hallucination, MISCREANCE venture into dark territory that the genre has yet to travel. Lead single “Scalp Ceremony” shreds at a blood-thirsty pace before banging heads with a flurry of bongos.

While recorded in Italy, MISCREANCE discovered the concept for ‘Reminiscence’ by sifting through the sands of time. Along with tech-thrash riffs and proggy tempo shifts, the band uncover an unknown civilization where hunting, cave paintings, digeridoo and berimbau are just as common as telepathic surgeries, strange tongues and a burning celestial corpse. Climbing “The Moaning Hill” is not for the faint of heart, but the intricate twists along its perverse path lead to truly sacred pleasures.

“You’ve never known the face of death / But now it becomes yours”, drummer Andrea Feltrin growls amidst the many peaks hidden within “Oracle’s Rift”. As the band tear through a torturous passage with ruthless precision, the last thing you see – or hear – is death metal’s future mutating right before our eyes.

With ‘Reminiscence’, MISCREANCE unlock a mind-altering experience of old-school technical death metal.
