Sand

I need to surprise myself. Unroll me like a poster. Unwind me like a cable. There is no center to a handful of sand. I have to just wait it out. Wait until I soften up and open up. I can’t just make this happen. It’s either too much, or it’s not enough. When is what enough? I need to unwind myself. Dissolve me like a powder. I’m only getting older. I’m only getting slower. When is what enough? I would never hold that line. I would never draw your eye. Stuck in a crumbling body. Stuck in a crumbling house. The garden is dry.
