This is the third and final chapter in my “Crucible” orchestral trilogy. Aside from a few odd choices in arrangement and being too tightly snapped to the grid, this is- at least in some ways- my best compositional effort.
This chapter went much more smoothly than the first two and is generally more accessible. I credit its relative ease to starting by taking time to just enjoy playing and recording without any sort of finished piece in mind (contrary to my approach with the first two chapters). At some point, I had a number of sketches that I revisited and refined a couple of times over the course of about a year. After a while, I realized that I had a full album.
The VSTs are all from EastWest Sounds. Ideally, I would have used a real orchestra, choir, and Taiko ensemble. Alas… I definitely do not have access to any of that, and the vision I had for this work felt like it demanded a full orchestra.
