This is the second installment for my orchestral trilogy. It’s a more difficult listen than the third, and about on par with the first (though it’s much darker overall than the first). This is primarily because the arrangements are more progressive rather than traditional, with few repeated parts, and the songs are on the longer side. The fourth movement in particular intentionally lingers around in one uncomfortable space. Some might call it especially self-indulgent, haha.
As it is a difficult listen, it was also very difficult to compose. The approach I took to this album was similar to the first in the series, in that I started more with a vision rather than being guided primarily by the music. I loosely mapped the movements to follow a certain kind of emotional flow, with a lot of dynamics and motion (except for the aforementioned fourth movement, ha).
