The cities of the northern kingdom of Fenebra rise on hills and mountains above fens shrouded in perpetual fog. Shallow boats, light enough to be carried over stretches of land, are used to ply the treacherous waters of these swamps. Fenebran navigators are experts in finding paths through the marshes and evading the creatures that haunt them, luring unsuspecting travellers astray with their ghastly lights.

The eastern reaches of the kingdom are drier and covered in golden fields. There, vast mills stand against the fog and churn it with their blades. Each autumn, people from across Fenebra travel eastward for the harvest before the earth freezes over. The end of the season is marked by the Harvestade, when field workers kindle bonfires of husks and stalks and dance and feast around them in one last celebration before winter.

Fenebrans are a quiet, melancholic people with little contact with outsiders. Life in the fog has made them cautious and reserved, but also patient and enduring. They seldom travel beyond the confines of their kingdom, but wandering bands of troubadours sometimes carry their tales and songs into other corners of the known world.
