Why Mercury?

For the creation of this EP, I researched and imagined how difficult it must have been to explore such an aggressive planet like Mercury; little explored due to its inhospitable conditions (its metal and silicate surface, radiation, craters, extreme temperatures, etc). I also imagined what scenes could happen in such forgotten planet..!

Scene 1:
The first track RELATIVE TO THE STARS is totally cinematic, a nod to the THX sound. Evoking Blade Runner and Vangelis vibes. An introduction to the rest of the scenes:

Scene 2:
SURFACE, the single from the EP, was inspired by the nightclubs in movies like Matrix and Blade, the futurism we imagined in the 2000s; gloomy clubs full of subcultures, factions, gangs, aliens, secrets... and the feeling of getting lost in the music while closing your eyes and dancing to the beat. It's the darkest hidden club on Mercury's Planet.

Scene 3:
LEFT ALONE is a continuation of Surface but has a more rustic, granular sound. I was inspired by the sounds of Lorn and the creation of analog sounds with my Prophet synthesizer. This track talks about a place where you feel you've found your place of solitude. At the same time, unlike other Planets in our Solar System, Mercury has no Moons, its conditions make it very hard to research, nobody really talks about this planet anymore. It's the ideal place for some very brave and prepared Solitaire Space Pirate!

Scene 4:
LOCKED TO THE SUN is an uptempo track and its sounds are "quirky" & eccentric, which adds darkness and mysticism. In this song the bass line is important, I liked playing with its "degradation" towards the end of the song, which marks the end of a phase of darkness, granularity, dust, radiation, violence, noise.

Scene 5:
STELLAR is a song with which I sought healing, it speaks of my own love. It started as an improvisation and ended up creating in me the feeling of a soft caress. It is a song that talks about recovering from the previous scenes of the album that felt some huge damage on their way, in a more chill, atmospheric format, closing the EP with a little more ease and light...
