As Life Fades
This Dying Age
A dying man lies weak, surrounded
By a mournful congregation
Hand in hand, they wait upon
To witness his last breath
As your life now fades away
So many things still left to say
To those of us who have to stay
And must face another day
As your life now fades away
A dying man, full of regrets
Unable to face the truth
Of the final obliteration
Of his soul from this world
How many days went by wasted
How many years in misery?
And now you lie by love surrounded
Surrounded yet alone
As your life now fades away
So many things still left to say
To those of us who have to stay
And must face another day
And must face another day
A dying man, full of pain
Lacks the strength to speak again
Words unsaid, tears unshed
Weighing down his heart
Now the time has come to part
From this shell your soul depart
Flesh to earth, bones to dust
Memories to rust
As your life now fades away
So many things still left to say
To those of us who have to stay
And must face another day
