Fenmoss, Wanderhall
"I passed by that old village today, and it is much the same as it was when last the moon waxed. It is a sad sight to behold those empty lanes by the ruined tavern once so bright with drink and song. They made a stew of pickled turnips I rather enjoyed... It has been three years since Hawkstone fell, yet mere months since this fact was made known to the baron in Fenmoss-town. His inaction was not due to malice, but merely the fact that the forces in control of this place now have cast a pall of illusion over the hills and valleys. Who will lay claim to this now remains to be seen, but the castle on the hill lies free for the taking if its current occupants can be ousted. What happens next? Adventure, no doubt.." -Erbsto Bedherwyc, in a letter to "Prince" Ffestygardd of the Thrivinwood
1:58

Album story in lyrics as usual, stop by and hear old Erbsto Bedherwyc wax poetic along with a few nameless bards of Fenmoss-town on a cold winter's eve.

When the world is bound by snow and ice, it can feel as though every fire in every hearth has burnt out and warmth shall never return.

These are liminal times, beyond the solstice but before the first whisper of spring brings a promise of a time when Frozen Rivers Again Shall Run. The bounds of existence wear thin and spirits from ethereal realms can be heard in the fields and streams if you listen closely enough.

My music for either these projects isn't generally "political" in nature, and instead focuses on fantasy worldbuilding and good ol' escapism. However, in this damaged world the lines are drawn such that you either take a stand against evil, or you tacitly endorse it. Supporting freedom for people who are under attack because of the color of their skin, who they love, how they worship, and how they exercise their own rights is never "politics." It's just the right thing to do. If you don't support the rights and freedoms of everyone, you don't support the rights and freedoms of anyone.

A lot of deeply horrible things are happening out there, and nothing may ever make it right. Hopefully at least in the meantime you can find a bit of solace and escapism in these four tracks of fantasy where a tiny ember of warmth still persists through a wintry malaise.

As always, stay safe, stay swamp synth, and crush injustice in all its forms.
