0decathexis0 was a strange idea several years in the making. Indeed, Cory had wanted to do a shoegaze/metal type of project since at least 2006. After seeing My Bloody Valentine’s reunion tour in the USA and witnessing the extended noise blast first hand, twice, he realized he needed to combine shoegaze with grindcore specifically.

Finally, on Halloween of 2011, they posted their first song on soundcloud.

after three full lengths which told the story of a tragic love triangle from each corner’s perspective while constantly referencing their favorite shoegaze bands (even more recent ones), they became 0decathexis0. Less tongue in cheek, more personal, still wearing their inspirations on their sleeve: shoegaze, grindcore and aromanticism.
