This Maze Of Mine
Carmine Rebellion
I'm in a fragile state
I am off balance
I've been knocked reeling by the news
My internal debate
Is overwhelming
I am unsettled and confused
I am lost inside this maze of mine
I can't find my way out
Seeking escape from this crazy mind
But I can find no answers
Wandering inside this maze of mine
I can't escape the doubt
My twisting thoughts are labyrinthine
And I am left without an answer
I'm in a tender place
Lost in the silence
Drowning in fears I can't vanquish
Misery's sweet embrace
Is holding me down
And I sink into the anguish
I am lost inside this maze of mine
I can't find my way out
Seeking escape from this crazy mind
But I can find no answers
Wandering inside this maze of mine
I can't escape the doubt
My twisting thoughts are labyrinthine
And I am left without an answer

Destined To Destroy
Carmine Rebellion
You're walking away from me
You've turned your back; this time for good
You're walking away from me
Message heard and understood
And so it's come to this
The end is here and it's too late
But at last I see
What you wanted What you needed
I never meant to cause you pain
I hate to see hurt in your eyes
But I lash out again
And there's no compromise
Am I destined to destroy everything that brings me joy
And tear apart the soul of everyone I love?
In the mirror all I see is a source of misery
A torturer that you are better rid of
I'm destined to destroy
You're walking away from me
You won't turn back; it's set in stone
But now I agree
You'll be better off alone
If it can come to this
Despite all that we intend
We can't help ourselves
We'll break it up - Break it up
I never meant to cause you pain
Hate to see that I drove you away
Wonder if I'll ever change
Or just repeat today
Am I destined to destroy everything that brings me joy
And tear apart the soul of everyone I love?
In the mirror all I see is a source of misery
A torturer that you are better rid of
I'm destined to destroy
I never meant to cause you pain
I hate to see hurt in your eyes
I see it now and I am shamed
But I do what I despise
Am I destined to destroy everything that brings me joy
And tear apart the soul of everyone I love?
In the mirror all I see is a source of misery
A torturer that you are better rid of
I'm destined to destroy

Imposter Syndrome
Carmine Rebellion
It's only me: the insecure imposter
Barely keeping my head above the water
Got to keep going, worried that I'll falter
Desperately trying to impress
Ever blind to my own success
I can't see what you see
I can't believe in me
I know I don't deserve this
Maybe I should just quit
I can't trust in myself
I'm feeling overwhelmed
I can't stand on my own
I can't shake this imposter syndrome
It's only me, in need of validation
Undeserving of your admiration
I am lost in a sea of self-negation
Can't you see the doubt in my eyes?
Won't you ever expose my lies?
I can't see what you see
I can't believe in me
I know I don't deserve this
Maybe I should just quit
I can't trust in myself
I'm feeling overwhelmed
I can't stand on my own
I can't shake this imposter syndrome
Is this fear of failure or a failure of fear?
Was it just luck that got me here?
Please excuse my peeling camouflage
And disregard my self sabotage
My complex inferiority just won't subside
The weakness has taken root deep down inside
I don't want your attention; I just want to hide
I will give up the spotlight and step aside
Climbing Dunning-Kruger Hill
Losing confidence as I gain skill
The more I win, the less I believe
The less I expect, the more I achieve
How did I get so far above my station?
How can I build on a shaky foundation?
How can I live up to the expectation?
How can I survive the overestimation?
I can't see what you see
I can't believe in me
I know I don't deserve this
Maybe I should just quit
I can't trust in myself
I'm feeling overwhelmed
I can't stand on my own
I can't shake this imposter syndrome

Insurrection
Carmine Rebellion
The slime gets everywhere
Turn over any rock and you'll find corruption
So expose it to the open air
Leave it facing its imminent destruction
The decay is far advanced
And the rot has been spreading unchecked
It's past time the boil was lanced
And the halls of power were disinfected
The time is past for expedience
It's time for a little disobedience
Time to deliver a little correction
Time to show our disaffection
Time to drive out the infection
Rise up in insurrection
Our leaders are mired in sleaze
Surrounded by bribes and cronies and kleptocracy
They're rotten right through, it's like a disease
Such is the rise of the mediocracy
The time is past for acceptance
Now it's time for resistance
Time to deliver a little correction
Time to show our disaffection
Time to drive out the infection
Rise up in insurrection
We don't have to stand for their contempt
They can't stand without our consent
They must face up to outright rejection
Their indifference sparked our insurrection
The time is past for genuflection
The time is here for insurrection
We're not asking for perfection
But more honesty and less deflection
Lies won't offer much protection
Against our insurrection
Time to deliver a little correction
Time to show our disaffection
Time to drive out the infection
Rise up in insurrection

Burn Brighter
Carmine Rebellion
There are people with nowhere to turn
With no hope left in their hearts
Desperately floundering and reaching out
Seeking a light in the dark
There are people lost in despair
Searching for a guiding light
Let us be a beacon of hope
Shattering the night
Let us burn
Let us burn brighter!
There are people calling out for help
People who're lost and afraid
Let us bring them brand new hope
Let us bring them aid
Let us burn
Let us burn brighter!
There are people lost in despair
Reach out and show them you care
There are people with nowhere to turn
Be a beacon and brightly burn
Give me your hand, let me lift you
Let me be your light in the dark
Let us burn
Let us burn brighter!

This fourth EP didn’t have any deliberate theme, but it does include a few songs that dealt with mental health issues. In a rare departure, Burn Brighter was an attempt to be positive and upbeat.
