Imposter Syndrome
Carmine Rebellion
It's only me: the insecure imposter
Barely keeping my head above the water
Got to keep going, worried that I'll falter
Desperately trying to impress
Ever blind to my own success
I can't see what you see
I can't believe in me
I know I don't deserve this
Maybe I should just quit
I can't trust in myself
I'm feeling overwhelmed
I can't stand on my own
I can't shake this imposter syndrome
It's only me, in need of validation
Undeserving of your admiration
I am lost in a sea of self-negation
Can't you see the doubt in my eyes?
Won't you ever expose my lies?
I can't see what you see
I can't believe in me
I know I don't deserve this
Maybe I should just quit
I can't trust in myself
I'm feeling overwhelmed
I can't stand on my own
I can't shake this imposter syndrome
Is this fear of failure or a failure of fear?
Was it just luck that got me here?
Please excuse my peeling camouflage
And disregard my self sabotage
My complex inferiority just won't subside
The weakness has taken root deep down inside
I don't want your attention; I just want to hide
I will give up the spotlight and step aside
Climbing Dunning-Kruger Hill
Losing confidence as I gain skill
The more I win, the less I believe
The less I expect, the more I achieve
How did I get so far above my station?
How can I build on a shaky foundation?
How can I live up to the expectation?
How can I survive the overestimation?
I can't see what you see
I can't believe in me
I know I don't deserve this
Maybe I should just quit
I can't trust in myself
I'm feeling overwhelmed
I can't stand on my own
I can't shake this imposter syndrome
