Light Goes Out

I’m sleeping in the ground like every other lost heart We rise and fall, active imagination When you win this round, one clean revision Come crashing down - your new obsession took you out With all these histories blown a-part Where your riches bought you nothing you’ve got the artifice but dropped the art Lives changed in the blink of an eye Careless consideration in a world that passed you by The planets in my eyes, the precious silence of Wordless replies, they were the old ward, lost and found Changing their clothes in the violence that swelled underground The incoming tide now It’s carrying ships aground The knives in our backs played this out The dark that was following This nocturnal drought Who holds the flame when the light goes out And with our hands down, the light goes out In the trail of sulfur you sink back to the cave As it echoes back to the affection you crave When you let your guard down to watch the coal black clouds with your eyes crossed out Lives changed in the blink of an eye - wordless replies Careless consideration in a world that passed you by

Describe This Present Moment is Che Arthur's fifth album under his own name. In ten songs the Chicago-based multi-instrumentalist/songwriter/engineer/producer pits the taut, concise punk/indie structures and contemplative acoustic-based textures of his previous albums against heavier moments that call back to Pink Avalanche, the currently "on hiatus" band Arthur helmed from 2010-2020. Moment sees Arthur expand upon his cathartic, darkly melodic post-hardcore work in Pink Avalanche, his previous solo work and as guitarist in regarded early 2000s Chicago quartet Atombombpocketknife.
