They used to be on rock band posters and on the back covers of books about travelling the world stoned and hopeful of meeting some great hope. There aren’t many characters like the great Hunter S. Thompson around, but Dusty Lucite is working on it.
I’m pleased to bring you a new single from the project, and this go round, it sounds as if they’re channeling some of the deeper vibes of the psychedelic realm. There’s this stop-and-go rhythmic pulse, with a bit of a sultry vocal curl beckoning to the listener to come a little deeper inside the tune. Where others would explode and make it easy, I appreciate riding out the feels on this and locking into your own groove. It’s what makes Dusty Lucite their own vibe.
Shmaltz is not a surrender to sentimentalism. It is a conscious decision to embrace the human experience in all its contradictions—even when it feels uncomfortable.
