About Local Phonies

Local Phonies is yet another music project by Jon and Conor (Blank Brothers, Intranational, Conor Garrison, Moakler & Burke). Heavily influenced by Spoon, Wilco and Andy Shauf, Local Phonies search for the essences of modern americana, psych rock, and electronica. Their debut, Canyonero, was an eclectic, and dusty mix of art rock in the vein of Beck and the postmodern folk of Father John Misty. Their second release–an ambitious double album in the form of 4 EPs called HOME NOT HOME [Complete]– is sonically eclectic, recalling Jeff Tweedy at his most apocalyptic. Their new album Static Prismatic is a cohesive meditation on the smoldering angst of their aging generation. Despite the dour subject matter, the Phonies manage to uncover dark humor, a testament to their longstanding partnership as writers.
