Escape From The Underdark

I hear the slithering And crackling of chitin The beasts and aberrations Endlessly surrounding Right turn, then left No way out In over our heads Hide, don't make a sound The mind flayer Relishes terror The illithid cracks a head The first of us hits the ground dead We must escape These endless caves Running, retracing Heart racing, muscles aching Half the party lost If I escape, that'll be enough Dragging broken bodies An exit now in sight Approaching Bursting into light Living on to enjoy my spoils But at what cost? Sunrise honours the mighty Remembering those I have lost
