About Dusty Lucite
Born into the suburban cradle of Seattle’s grunge movement, Dusty Lucite singer, songwriter and chief instrumentalist H.L. Stratton-Kuhta grew up immersed in the guitar distortion and disillusionment of 90's alt-rock bands like Nirvana, Built to Spill, 764-Hero and Sunny Day Real Estate. Seeing Radiohead live as a teenager cemented her life-long desire to make music.
It wasn't until 2016, after Stratton-Kuhta's husband/drummer purchased an audio interface, that Dusty Lucite was born. First as a home recording project that morphed into a live two-piece band during the lockdowns of the 2020 Covid pandemic. Dusty Lucite now find themselves on the verge of releasing their 5th LP "Shmaltz". After co-writing a song with D. Crane (BOAT, Unlikely Friends, KRANE) and working with Academy Award winning director Adam McKay's climate nonprofit Yellow Dot Studios on a music video for their last album "Normal Harder", Dusty Lucite is keeping the collaborations all in the family for "Shmaltz". H.L Stratton-Kuhta is backed on drums for 3 songs by husband N. Kuhta and her son E.A. Kuhta co-wrote "Butternut Squash" and plays keys on the Stevie Wonder-inspired track.
